Field Day... aka... Water Day

Yesterday was Lane's field day...I use the word field day very loosely because in reality it was water day!! When did field day become "let's play in the water"!? I remember races, ribbons, and tug-o-war!!!
.
Nonetheless, the kids had a blast and got super wet in the process!! I'll let the pics speak for themselves...

I love this shot...unstaged, unprompted,  just sheer joy on their sweet faces while getting hosed down!

Poor Ms. Macias...she got drenched at this station, but was a great sport!! The kids loved getting their teacher wet!!

Love this class!!

Night of No Limits

Tonight I am one proud mama!! A couple of weeks ago Lane brought home a letter saying he was chosen to give a presentation at the upcoming district's showcase of project based learning! I was so excited for him (and a bit nervous)!
.
So up until tonight he has been practicing his lines every day at school and every night at home.
.
Tonight was the night! He was so ready and excited!

They were presenting "Oobleck"....from their Dr. Seuss week!

A little run through!

Aside from being precious, these four kiddos did an amazing job!!

And of course lots of credit to their teachers!

We were "Levi free" for the evening, letting us give our full attention to Lane man!

Afterwards we went to dinner where we had some celebratory shots to end the night! (Don't worry Lane's was a Shirley Temple and this particular restaurant always gives us shots after dinner...and this time he just so happened to bring Lane one)

This was a great way to end his kindergarten year!!

Memorial Weekend

It's Tuesday already!?! Long weekends always seem to go by faster than two day weekends! We had a wonderful relaxing weekend! Backing up a bit, last Wednesday night Levi had his Spring program. Lane also had soccer practice at the same time, and it was a tournament weekend so we needed to go...so we had to divide up. As much as I wanted to see Levi sing, he really wanted Paul to go, so daddy took him! He made sure to send lots of pics and videos for me!!

Sunday evening we took the boys bowling, they both love to bowl!

Somehow the boys beat us!

We also spent lots of time outside playing with the water hose and with a fun Jake sprinkler ball!

We have NINE days until summer...and those nine days include: Night of No Limits, field day, Kinder graduation, and Levi's class party!! Bring on the fun!

{30 Book Challenge} 8th & 9th Book Reviews, plus weekend Fun

Before I get to some book reviews, I wanted to recap our weekend! We have been practicing with an academy soccer team and they asked Lane to be a guest player in some upcoming tournaments! So bright and early Saturday morning, we were on our way to Grapevine for our very first soccer tourney!! We are entering uncharted waters here and yet we can't wait!! We have another tourney this weekend!!

In between the soccer games, we were in baseball playoffs! We won our first game on Friday night but sadly lost out Saturday morning! Our team did great this season, and I'm sad it's over because I've made some really sweet friends on this team, and so did Lane!!

So, sports kept us super busy Saturday, but we had all day Sunday to relax!! Ok, so some book reviews!

My 8th book was surprised by motherhood by Lisa-Jo Baker. I've seen this pop up on feeds and such, so I gave it a whirl. It focus's on Lisa's life, how she lost her own mother very young, how she thought she never wanted kids, and then ending up having kids and her journey with them. It was a light and quick read but and I enjoyed the story but wasn't overly into it. It was very hard for me to relate to her, so maybe that had something to do with it. Overall ok, but not wonderful. 3 stars.

Next up was Sisterland. I picked this up on a whim while at Costco last week! From the beginning I was hooked...a like-able young middle aged mom of two, a twin (which I loved peeking into a twins mind), a little bit of mystery thrown in. The plot line was very interesting. The sisters have "senses" and one predicts a major natural disaster, all the while lots of family plot lines going on, some might say too many at one time, but I enjoyed it! As the story built, I couldn't put it down! I was so drawn in, and then the story-line took a very wild turn, one I didn't see coming, and the ending just mystified me!! Not believable at all and left me unfulfilled!! It was the weirdest thing and I wished so badly I was still in my book club b/c I desperately needed someone to discuss this with! So now I'm not so sure how I feel about it overall....I liked it and then the ending made it weird for me, if that makes sense! I would recommend it but be warned! 3 stars.

I can't believe we are so close to the end of the school year!! Lot's of school related events are coming up and summer prep is in the works!!

A Full Weekend

Our weekend started on Thursday when our house was turned upside down to get ready for hardwood floors to be installed! Paul had been wanting them forever, so we finally bit the bullet! They started Thursday morning and finished up Friday afternoon. We love how they turned out and how much they change the look of our home! Now we just need to find a rug of some sort!

I caught this sweet moment of Paul and Levi watching the work!

Saturday was a busy day of games. We had our last soccer game and our last baseball game of the season! Lane did great and even caught his first hard-hit pop up line drive at second! He was SO excited!! He also got the game ball! If the weather holds up, tonight we will begin playoffs for baseball!

And Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day!  Let's back up just a bit to the week, when I was able to celebrate with each of them at their schools' Muffins with Mom!

I got precious cards and gifts from the boys and this card is an example....

I laughed so hard when I read this! Of all the things to love, he loves that I potty trained Levi! So funny and this will be pulled out many years from now!
.
We hung around the house all morning long! We went on a walk, flew kites, and daddy mowed. Then we went and did a little shopping, had a yummy dinner at PF Changs, then played outside some more before we had dessert!!! Chocolate cake and Michael Kors....what more could I ask for!?!?

I had a wonderful, relaxing Mother's Day! I am so blessed for these two amazing boys who call me mom!!!

I hope you all had a great day celebrating the ones you love!!
