{30 Book Challenge} 7th Book Review

I am kinda obsessed with Rob Lowe, I mean really, who wouldn't be!? So back in 2011 when his first book came out, I was eager to read it. I don't read a lot of memoirs (trying to remedy that), but I couldn't put that book down! I got pulled into his fascinating life with stories of growing up in Hollywood! He had a crazy young adulthood!

I didn't even know he was writing a new book until a few months ago, and I had it on my Amazon Wishlist. I happened to be at Target the day it came out, so I picked it up.

Like his first, he told some crazy stories. This one definitely was more reflective and lesson learning in nature. It dealt with family life more, raising his sons, and sending them off, which be forewarned, I cried all through that chapter! I thought of Lane as I read every word. I love his books because we get a peek into Hollywood, a world in which most of us will never know!
.
A couple quotes that stood out...
From the chapter A Boy, the one in which I cried through....he was talking about his boys and how close they were, "Life is breaking up the team that kept me in loving consternation until all hours of the morning and throughout those never-ending summer nights." It was a sweet, however very real, reminder to me that the things that sometime drive us crazy and the many more things that will as the boys grow up, will one day come to a stop. Which is hard to think about. I love how we refers to his sons as "the team"...I can only hope my own boys will be that close!
.
And my personal favorite, in the chapter No Comparison, when he is talking about focusing on his marriage and what that might look like after kids are gone, he says..."After a long day at work, it was sometimes easier to hop in bed with the kids, read Harry Potter and fall asleep with them than to do the late-night catch-up of the daily minutiae of running a house, businesses and marriage.  But the kids will only be as happy as their parents, which is something to be remembered in our age of total emotional focus on our children." Not only do I love this quote because it is so totally true, but the fact that he was able to work Harry Potter into his book is pure awesomeness! Knowing Rob Lowe is a Potter fan makes smile!!
.
He ends it with "Our life is ours.  It is the only one we will ever have.  And we should love it." Amen brother!

So I would totally recommended it! 5 Stars!

Up next:
I'm smack in the middle of Insurgent! Stopped it to read this, so hopefully I'll get it done soon!

Link Up: What's On.....Your DVR

It's Monday! We had a nice little weekend ending with our neighborhood Easter Party, that was loads of fun, post coming later on that! But today I am linking up with Andrea over at Momfessionals for a fun new Monday link up series!!

I will totally confess that I am a TV junkie! The hubs would say a reality TV junkie, and I sadly have to agree! I love a good reality show, ha! However 90% of what I watch is DVR'd, because lets be real here, with three boys in the house our tvs are usually tuned into whatever sport game that is in season, NASCAR, ESPN, Longhorn Network, or Disney Jr!
.
So here is what's on my DVR!!!!
First up my two favorite dramas right now...
 Okay so I secretly want to be a Braverman! Hands down my favorite show right now. I cry in almost every single episode, which is a sign of great writing!!

And Nashville....great storylines, great characters, great singing, and alot of eye candy!!!

Moving onto Reality...
 Big Brother is my go to reality show of the summer!! LOVE IT!

Amazing race...I may or may not have auditioned for this show with my college roomie!

Yes, I'm a sucker for this franchise!

I watch two Real Housewives regularly, the OC and Jersey!

Love HH...I just have this thing about looking at houses! However I almost never agree with the house the people choose!

And my absolute fav...Giuliana & Bill! I want to be her BFF, she is hilarious as can be, and Bill, what's not to love there!

So, that's what you can find any given night on my DVR! Thanks for hosting this fun link up Andrea!!

Race Weekend!

We had a super fun but super busy weekend. Lane looks forward to two weekends a year...Nascar weekend! We are so fortunate to live literally right down the road from TMS! Having a big brother who loves Nascar, Levi has began to like it as well! Paul had two tickets to each race, so we thought he would take Levi to the Nationwide race on Friday night, making it his first ever! Levi was pumped and so proud to be going with his daddy, without Lane! And I'm so glad Paul got to take each one of them individually to their first races!!
Here are some sweet pictures I got from Paul that night!

And because I can't resist a good comparison picture...
Meanwhile, Lane and I went to his Spring Fling at school! It was Candyland theme and it was precious!

There was hot dogs, train rides, games, balloons, cake walks, music, sno cones, bounce houses, and my favorite, the silent auction, where I may or may not have bid $55 to snag four front row seats to Kindergarten Graduation!!!!! I'm totally that mom!! All I have to say is thank goodness Paul wasn't there!! I took this picture for him...see babe....it's 'Priceless"!!

Saturday was game day! And then Sunday was the big Sprint Cup race. However rain put a damper on things and the race ended up getting cancelled until Monday. We decided to let Lane miss school and go to the race, and because why not, Paul was able to snag Levi and myself a ticket and we made it a family day at the speedway! It turned out to be a gorgeous day for racing!

Five on Friday

It's Friday friends!! And it's time to post a 5 on Friday post! It' s been awhile, but here we go..

{ONE}
I have the itch for a new blog design and I've had my eye on a few from Designer Blogs. They have so many cute ones!! Here are two that I like ...

{TWO}
I am LOVING this new bag from Target! It's from their new Oh Joy collection and it is seriously cute! It's the perfect tote bag, sturdy and folds up cute with a snap....you can never have too many bags, right!?!

{THREE}
I picked these new V8 V-Fusion drinks up at the store last week, and I've got say they are pretty good! It's safe to say I am not a fruit or veggie eater, so this is the perfect way to get a serving in!

{FOUR}
I saw this new precious Easter book at Barnes and Noble this past weekend and it is on the Easter basket list for sure!! So cute!!

{FIVE}
Technically I'm not loving this, but...Anyone else sad that Josh Elliott left Good Morning America?! I loved him and I hate when they change up a cast that I love!! Oh well!

Happy Friday!!

Hey Batter Batter: Lane's 6th Birthday Party

Yesterday we celebrated our big boy one last time at his birthday party!! We had it at DBAT Batting Cages in Southlake and he loved it!! Because of the invitation we went with, I decided against doing a Ranger themed party and going with the MLB logo! I kept it pretty simple, used mostly stuff from the house, and loved how everything turned out!!

Banner I made, tied onto two baseball bats! I knew I wanted to incorporate those bats since we were having a party at the batting cages!

Close up at the favors, Big League Chew and a Baby Ruth!

The kid tables decor included, MLB confetti, Baby Ruths, and baseball cards!

The cookie cake!

While waiting for all the guests to arrive, the kids just kicked the ball around!

First up was a game of wiffle ball! Here are the two teams!

They also played a game of kick ball. Then it was onto batting! First they all got to hit off a tee!

Then they all got coach tosses!

Then it was time for cake!

The whole gang!

Baseball Brothers!

We opted to open presents at home, so after dinner with the fam, Lane got to open all his gifts!

He had SO much fun at the cages! It was a different party for sure, but totally him! He is so blessed with great friends and family!
(I'm missing one of my boys here....after going all day long with no nap, then playing his little heart out at the party, he was passed out on the couch at this point!)
